![]() But when his character was killed in the 3rd season, the show jumped the shark and slid down the quality commode, collapsing into goofball farce (and way too many dino-world episodes). It helped that John Rhys-Davies was in the cast, his character offering an intellectual counterpoint. ![]() In its beginning on Fox, "Sliders" explored some interesting takes on dual identity, politics, society, etc., without being heavy-handed. It's sad to see a once-fun show with a promising premise reduced to a Sid-and-Marty-Kroft show with special effects, and scripts by wanna-be Norman Lears. Confused on what they slide in and out of now. The show was great when they were slidding out of different time periods or different types of San Fran. You can't kill off John-Rhys Davies! What's wrong with you people! He saved Harrison Ford's behind in Raiders of the Lost Ark! How's that for a thank you? This change is best examplified by the death of the professor (an intellectual character) and the introduction of Maggie (a "bimbo" character.) The plots went downhill from there. I really enjoyed the show until they decided to change the format. This is a good example of why a show can be, "Too smart for TV." Wade got a new hair do, tight clothing and they brought in a busty blonde. They changed the format from exploring differing aspects of society to making the female cast members wear sexier outfits. The next season, it lost all pretense of intellectual content and became "Monster of the Week." "Tremors," "Westworld," even "The Wizard of Oz." First season "Sliders" was an intriguing show with an original premise and a likable cast. Suddenly, with the new season, every episode became a ripoff of a different horror, fantasy, or sci-fi movie. Had to be with the "Night of the Living Dead" episode. When Professor Arturo (played by John-Rhys Davies) was killed off. Robert Floyd as Mallory (Quinn's alternate)Įpisode # 79. "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?"Įpisode # 56. I'd search for Wade and my mom (who was left with the Kromaggs in "Genesis").Ĩ.) Since Jerry O'Connell was out of the show, do you like the way they brought in the new Mallory? Quinn just got colder as the show went on.ħ.) If you were Quinn and you're in the episode "Revelations" would you be so quick to just stop sliding and stay on an Earth you know nothing about, just because it's supposed to be "Home"? It seemed like only Rembrandt was trying to get Wade back. I don't know, but I'm thinking about writing some fan fic on that.ĥ.) Who would you rather see Quinn with - Wade or Maggie?Ħ.) Didn't Quinn seem not to care for saving Wade in season 4? It ruins the fourth and fifth seasons knowing that she's off at a camp suffering.ģ.) What do you think happened to Rembrandt at the end of the series finale "The Seer"? 1.) Which Character's Departure do you think most affected the show?Ģ.) What are your feelings on Wade being sent to a Breeding Camp during the fourth and fifth seasons? ![]()
